Victor Wembanyama Records 30 Points and 10 Blocks in Spurs' Dominant Win Over Blazers

Victor Wembanyama scored 30 points and matched his career high with 10 blocked shots as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the struggling Portland Trail Blazers 114-94 on Saturday.

The game was close until the Spurs pulled away with a decisive 13-2 run late in the second quarter, building a 16-point lead by halftime. They extended their advantage to 18 by the end of the third quarter and led 93-69 when Wembanyama made two free throws before leaving the game with 10:12 remaining.

With this victory, San Antonio has won two consecutive games and four of their last five. Charles Bassey also had a strong performance, tying his career high with 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson each contributed 11 points, while Jeremy Sochan added 10.

For the Trail Blazers, Shaedon Sharpe led the team with 25 points, but they have now lost seven of their last eight games. Anfernee Simons scored 18 points, Deandre Ayton had 14 points and eight rebounds, and Scott Henderson contributed 12 points off the bench.

The Spurs led for most of the first quarter, establishing an eight-point lead after a layup by Sochan at the 3:28 mark and ending the period ahead 25-20. Portland managed to tie the game early in the second quarter and was only down 41-39 after a dunk by Ayton with 4:10 left in the half.

However, San Antonio created separation with a 13-2 run, culminating in a 3-pointer from Chris Paul with 1:32 remaining until the break. They took a 60-44 lead into halftime after Wembanyama hit a 3-pointer with just 1.7 seconds on the clock.

Wembanyama led the Spurs in the first half with 11 points, and San Antonio outshot Portland 50 percent to 36.7 percent in the first two quarters. Sharpe was the top scorer for the Trail Blazers at halftime with 16 points, but he was the only player on the team to score more than six points.

In the third quarter, the Spurs maintained a lead of no less than 12 points. They extended their advantage to as much as 19 on four occasions before Simons made a free throw with 3.5 seconds left, reducing the gap to 87-69 heading into the final quarter.
