A freezing rain warning remains in effect for Ottawa on Tuesday morning as a low-pressure system continues to move through eastern Ontario.
Environment Canada reports that freezing rain will transition to rain as temperatures rise above 0°C this morning. Ice accumulation could range from 1 to 3 mm on some surfaces.
"Roadways, highways, walkways, and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Exercise caution when walking or driving in affected areas," warns Environment Canada.
The Ottawa Student Transportation Consortium (OSTA) states that all school bus services are operating but may experience delays. School bus services across eastern Ontario are running as scheduled.
Current conditions and forecast: Tuesday morning’s forecast predicts the freezing rain will end by noon, with a 30% chance of rain showers in the afternoon. The high will reach 5°C.
More winter weather, including a mix of rain and snow flurries, is expected for the rest of the week.
Tonight, temperatures will remain cloudy with a low of -1°C. Wednesday will bring cloudy skies and a high of 4°C.
Flurries and a chance of snow are forecasted for Thursday, with a 30% chance of flurries during the day and a 40% chance of snow in the evening.
Friday's forecast includes a 40% chance of flurries, with a high of 0°C.
Cloudy skies and more flurries are expected over the weekend.
