Charli XCX showcased her comedic talent during the November 16 episode of Saturday Night Live, where she not only served as the host but also the musical guest. Throughout the night, she appeared in various sketches, including a hilarious revamped version of the viral 'Domingo' sketch that Ariana Grande had starred in during her October 12 hosting gig.
In the original "Bridesmaid Speech" skit, Grande played a bridesmaid struggling to hit her notes, joined by Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman. Grande sang off-key to Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso," a song about their bachelorette party for the bride, portrayed by Chloe Fineman.
In Charli XCX's updated take, titled "Babymoon," Fineman returned as a pregnant bride at her baby shower. Charli, Gardner, Nwodim, and Sherman sang (with some off-key moments) about their "besties babymoon," this time to Chappell Roan’s song "Hot To Go."
Charli XCX has confirmed the rumor that she was once asked to write songs for Britney Spears, but revealed that the pop star ultimately didn’t record them.
In a fun twist during her Saturday Night Live appearance, Charli XCX also performed a new version of the viral "Domingo" sketch, originally seen when Ariana Grande hosted the show in October. In Charli's take, the lyrics playfully hinted at the possibility that the character played by Chloe Fineman—who was pregnant—could have had her baby fathered by a character named Domingo. The lyrics included lines like, “We get facials at the spa, but Kelsey doesn’t talk at all,” and, “We say, ‘Kelsey get off your phone,’ cause we know who she’s texting! We know who she’s texting! D-O-M-I-N-G-O," referencing the same character from Grande’s original sketch.
Charli XCX delivered a memorable performance on Saturday Night Live, showcasing her musical versatility and comedic chops. For her musical numbers, the Girls, So Confusing singer performed "360," a track introduced by Julia Fox in a cameo appearance. The song's lyrics, "I'm everywhere/I'm so Julia," were a playful nod to Fox, 34.
Charli also performed "Sympathy is a Knife," a song from her Brat album, which holds a special connection to Ariana Grande, who featured on the remix of the track.
In addition to her musical performances, Charli showcased her acting skills in two sketches. She played Adele in a hilarious segment titled "Wicked Auditions," which featured "unseen" footage of stars auditioning for roles in the upcoming movie. She also took part in the It Girl Thanksgiving Special, where she portrayed Victoria Beckham in a white skirt suit at a Thanksgiving event.
This appearance marked Charli XCX’s third time as a musical guest on SNL. Her first was in 2014 when British actor Martin Freeman hosted, followed by another performance in 2022 during Oscar Isaac’s episode. Charli has also appeared in several SNL digital shorts, including "The Christmas Socks" music video with Paul Rudd and "Meatballs" with cast member Sarah Sherman.
The singer-songwriter recently wrapped up her Sweat Tour with Troye Sivan and released a remix of her Brat album on Oct. 11, which includes collaborations with Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lorde, and more. SNL airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC and streams live on Peacock.
