President-elect Trump attended UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night, surrounded by top allies and cabinet picks. As he entered, the crowd erupted with cheers and chants of "USA, USA."
Trump was accompanied by key supporters, including Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, both chosen by Trump to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency, along with Tulsi Gabbard, his pick for director of national intelligence. He was also joined by Robert Kennedy Jr., his choice for head of the Department of Health and Human Services.
In addition to his cabinet picks, Trump was accompanied by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), as well as his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
His stop at the historic Madison Square Garden follows Trump’s swift appointments to his cabinet in the weeks after winning the Presidential Election on November 5.
On Saturday, President-elect Trump revealed that Chris Wright, the CEO and founder of Liberty Energy, will head the Department of Energy in his upcoming administration.
“I am excited to announce that Chris Wright will be joining my administration as the United States Secretary of Energy and as a member of the newly established Council of National Energy,” Trump said in a statement released on Saturday.
Trump's nominees and administration picks for his second term are being announced at a much quicker pace than during his first administration in 2016. The transition team credits this rapid rollout to Trump's strong commitment to putting "America first."
"The American people re-elected President Trump with a decisive margin, giving him a mandate to fulfill his campaign promises, and his Cabinet picks reflect his priority to put America First," said Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for the Trump-Vance transition. "President Trump will continue to appoint highly qualified individuals who possess the talent, experience, and skills necessary to Make America Great Again."
