New Jersey resident claims $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot.

The jackpot is the fifth-largest in the history of the game.

An anonymous New Jersey resident has claimed the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot, according to state lottery officials on Monday.

The winning ticket, purchased at a ShopRite liquor store in Neptune Township, New Jersey, matched all the numbers in the March drawing, marking the fifth-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The New Jersey Lottery announced in a press release that a New Jersey resident has submitted the winning ticket and "has begun the process of collecting the prize."

The winner has opted for the cash value of the prize, which totals $537.5 million before state and federal taxes, according to state lottery officials.

"The New Jersey player values privacy and has chosen to remain anonymous," the New Jersey Lottery stated.

Since 2020, New Jersey lottery winners have had the option to remain anonymous under state law.

Winners in the state have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize before it expires, though it often takes some time for them to file a claim.

The March jackpot was the sixth time the Mega Millions grand prize exceeded $1 billion.

Another huge Mega Millions jackpot is up for grabs. As of Tuesday night's drawing, the current jackpot stands at $970 million, which would make it the seventh-largest in the game's history.
