Martin Leads No. 17 BYU to Dominant Alamo Bowl Victory Over No. 23 Colorado

SAN ANTONIO — No. 23 Colorado entered Saturday night's Alamo Bowl with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, a projected first-round draft pick in quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and the legendary Deion Sanders calling the plays.

But BYU had elite special teams, LJ Martin, and a secret weapon in Parker Kingston, who simply can't lose.

Kingston racked up 126 total yards, including a 64-yard touchdown on a punt return, while Martin rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, leading the 17th-ranked Cougars to a 36-14 victory over the Buffaloes in front of a packed Alamodome crowd of 64,261.

Jake Retzlaff passed for 151 yards with two interceptions and rushed for 29 yards on seven carries as BYU secured its second 11-win season in five years. The Cougars also earned their first bowl victory over a power conference opponent since 2009.

Travis Hunter caught four passes for 106 yards, and Shedeur Sanders threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, though he also threw two interceptions for Colorado (9-4), which remains winless against BYU since both teams were part of the Mountain States Conference in 1947.

The Cougars (11-2) sacked Shedeur Sanders twice, recorded six tackles for loss, and intercepted two passes, marking the seventh game this season with multiple picks.

Isaiah Glasker led the defense with seven tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception, while Evan Johnson added the other pick, helping BYU maintain its dominant defensive performance.
