CHICAGO, Ill. – The Detroit Lions bounced back from last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills with a commanding 34-17 win over the Chicago Bears.
MLive’s Dungeon of Doom podcast was on the scene for the victory, as hosts Ben Raven and Kory Woods break down the key lineup adjustments, Jahmyr Gibbs' standout performance as the sole primary back, and the defense's strong showing, despite a few hiccups along the way.
The Lions are now 13-2, setting a new franchise record for wins in a season with two games remaining. In addition, they surpassed the 2011 team's record of 274 points during this victory, marking another significant milestone at this point in the season.
“I’m proud of our guys for bouncing back. I knew they would. They had the right mindset,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said. “It takes a special group to recover emotionally, physically, and psychologically after a tough loss, especially when you haven’t lost in a while. To go out and win on the road again says a lot. I told the team that I didn’t know about the record at the time, but 13 wins is a franchise first. One day, we’ll look back and appreciate that, but not yet. It’s not the time for that.
“We’ve got a tough challenge ahead next week with San Francisco on the road — a very good team. But as for today, we did what we had to do. We got two takeaways and turned those into 10 points. We got ahead early and were able to control the game. I thought we played it the right way. It was a solid performance.”
