49ers Offensive Linemen Trent Williams, Aaron Banks, and Jaylon Moore Out for Remainder of the Season

49ers left tackle Trent Williams will not return this season.

With the 49ers out of postseason contention, Williams’ lingering ankle injury has not healed enough for him to return before the season ends in two weeks.

“He won’t be playing in these next two games,” said 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “He hasn’t been able to improve enough to get him out there, and we don’t see that happening in these two weeks, especially with the situation we’re in.”

Williams has missed the last five games due to the injury.

He missed two games in 2023, and the 49ers are 1-6 in the games he has missed over the past two seasons.

Williams, 36, earned his 11th Pro Bowl selection last season and was named All-Pro for the third consecutive year.

The 49ers will also be without left guard Aaron Banks and left tackle Jaylon Moore for the final two games, according to Shanahan. Banks is dealing with a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee, while Moore has a quad strain.

Guard Spencer Burford (calf) underwent an MRI on Monday to assess the severity of his injury.
