Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum on Monday, highlighting the growing influence and importance of the Global South in driving human progress.
In his message, Xi noted that the Global South is experiencing strong momentum and playing an increasingly significant role in global affairs. He reaffirmed that China has always been and will continue to be a member of the Global South, committed to the cause of developing nations.
China, he said, is ready to collaborate with countries of the Global South to promote true multilateralism, advocate for a just and balanced multipolar world, and support an inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization. Together, they can work toward building a community with a shared future for mankind, Xi emphasized.
Xi stressed that, in the face of profound global changes, pursuing modernization and striving for a more just and equitable international order are key historical missions for the Global South. These are common challenges shared by the media and think tanks of the Global South, he added.
He expressed hope that forum participants would engage in deep discussions, build consensus, and amplify the "voice of the Global South," while demonstrating its commitment to peace, development, and global cooperation. Xi also urged the forum to contribute ideas on how the Global South can become a stabilizing force for peace, a pillar of openness and development, and a constructive participant in global governance, as well as a catalyst for mutual learning among civilizations.
The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum opened in São Paulo, Brazil, on Monday. Co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the Brazil Communication Company, the forum's theme is "Development and Revitalization: A New Journey for the Global South."
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also sent a congratulatory message to the forum.
