Monday Night Football: Ravens Hold 14-13 Lead Over Chargers at Halftime

The Ravens took a bold gamble with John Harbaugh making an aggressive call in a matchup against his brother.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, the Ravens went for it on fourth-and-1 from their own 16-yard line. Tight end Mark Andrews took a direct snap and picked up 2 yards for the conversion.

Just five plays later, the Ravens were in the end zone.

Baltimore scored two consecutive touchdowns, taking a 14-13 lead into halftime.

The Ravens' offense started off slow, but Derrick Henry sparked the drive with 44 yards on three carries, setting up a seven-play, 70-yard series. Lamar Jackson capped it off with a 10-yard touchdown run to narrow the Chargers’ lead to 10-7.

The Ravens quickly covered 93 yards in just eight plays, with a crucial fourth-down conversion keeping the drive alive. Lamar Jackson connected with Rashod Bateman for a 40-yard touchdown, marking Jackson’s 19th consecutive game with a passing touchdown. The score came with only 24 seconds left in the first half.

However, the Chargers made sure to answer, using every second of the half to set up a 52-yard field goal by Cameron Dicker as time expired. Dicker had earlier kicked a 42-yard field goal for the Chargers.

On their opening drive, the Chargers struck first as quarterback Justin Herbert ran for a 5-yard touchdown.

The Chargers have outgained the Ravens 202 to 176 yards, with Herbert completing 13 of 18 passes for 129 yards. For the Ravens, JK Dobbins has 40 yards on six carries but is questionable to return after being sent to the X-ray room with a knee injury. Ladd McConkey leads the Chargers with three catches for 41 yards.

Jackson has completed 5 of 9 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, with Bateman catching the 40-yard score. Zay Flowers has one reception for 22 yards, while Mark Andrews has two catches for 18 yards. Derrick Henry has 66 yards on nine carries.
