Sofronio Vasquez Takes the Crown on The Voice Season 26
Sofronio Vasquez has truly earned his moment. On Tuesday, December 10, he was crowned the winner of The Voice Season 26, making Michael Bublé the victorious coach in his debut season.
Vasquez was overcome with emotion, falling to his knees as his name was announced, while Bublé, equally moved, wiped away tears of joy.
"My Filipino brother, you are the hope of so many people... It has been such an unbelievable journey to be here with you," Bublé said, expressing his pride before Vasquez was officially named the winner. Vasquez triumphed over fellow finalists: his teammate Shye, Team Reba's Danny Joseph, Team Snoop's Jeremy Beloate, and Team Gwen's Sydney Sterlace.
A native of the Philippines, Vasquez credits his father for igniting his passion for singing. After his father’s passing, he moved to the United States in 2022 to chase his musical dreams.
Vasquez earned a four-chair turn during his blind audition with Rose Royce's "I'm Goin' Down" and chose BublĂ© as his coach. The Canadian crooner was a constant source of encouragement throughout the season, especially after Vasquez’s emotional performance of Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream” on December 2.
BublĂ© praised Vasquez for his resilience, telling him, "I think if people understood the strength that you have and the fact that through all of this adversity, you walk out here on a night like tonight, when it probably matters more than anything has in your whole life career-wise. You walk out here in the moment and you take the brass ring and I’m just so happy for you."
Before the finale, Vasquez spoke to PEOPLE about how he planned to celebrate, regardless of the outcome. “We're just going to celebrate that this was a very, very good run for The Voice,” he shared. “We really felt that we are loved by the production and no one is superior... we are all loved. [It's] in America’s hands for tomorrow.”
Vasquez’s victory marks a new chapter in his musical journey, one that has captivated viewers and solidified his place in The Voice history.
