Dozens Dead in Airliner Crash Likely Caused by Russian Air Defenses

 An Azerbaijan Airlines plane en route from Baku to Grozny, Russia, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, after being rerouted due to fog.


Bodycam footage from Kazakh rescuers captured the harrowing scenes at the site of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday, where 38 people lost their lives.

The Embraer 190 jet, en route from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, after being rerouted due to fog.

Carrying 62 passengers and five crew members, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing, with authorities rescuing 29 survivors.

Originally scheduled to fly northwest from Baku to Grozny, the aircraft instead veered across the Caspian Sea before crashing near Aktau.

Footage from a bodycam worn by one of the rescuers, shared by Russian media outlet RT, captured the aftermath of the plane crash, showing firefighters rushing to the scene to extinguish the flames.

The Kazakh transport ministry confirmed that the plane was carrying 37 nationals from Azerbaijan, six from Kazakhstan, three from Kyrgyzstan, and 16 from Russia.

Flight tracking data from the Flight Radar website showed the plane deviating from its intended route, crossing the Caspian Sea before circling the area where it eventually crashed near Aktau.

Passenger Footage
Among the videos circulating on social media, one filmed by a passenger aboard the Azerbaijan Airlines flight captured the terrifying moments before and after the crash, showing chaotic scenes inside the aircraft.

Another video featured a man praying moments before the crash, with sounds of panic and the roar of the plane’s engine in the background.
